Foundation and Basement Waterproofing

Necesitatea lucrarilor de hidroizolatii fundatii

THE NEED FOR FOUNDATION WATERPROOFING WORKS

Ensuring waterproofing is one of the most important constructing steps when building a secure structure. If a building is not properly waterproofed at the base, overtime the water that infiltrates through the basement walls leads to wall deterioration, dampness and mold, therefore the effects cannot be stopped but only attenuated.

Waterproofing ensures and protects the supporting structure of the house, its appearance, aesthetics and its occupants’ safety. Preventive measures should be considered against the flooding of the basements, the dampness occurrence, the moisture spots, the insecurity of the electrical installations, etc.

THE GUARANTEE OF A SAFE QUALITY WORK

Milucon ensures the guarantee of safety through its thermo and waterproofing services against underground and surface infiltrations. The field of waterproofing is quite extensive, especially if we consider that all constructions and buildings need a good isolation against bad weather, as well as against the groundwater.

ROOF WATERPROOFING AND FOUNDATION AND BASEMENT WATERPROOFING

When it comes to waterproofing, we consider both the ones for roofs, as well as those for foundations. Any foundation waterproofing is essential for any type of construction, because without a good insulation against water infiltration, the building would face damage to its supporting structure. Foundation or basement waterproofing is performed with either high-quality PVC membranes with anti-condensation membranes, or with special concrete additives that provide it with waterproof properties.

PERFORMANCE CRITERIA

The circumstances in which the foundation works will influence the choice of the waterproofing material type. A few criteria indicate the type of technical solution required: the consistency of the land on which the building is located, its degree of humidity, its seismicity, compaction, load, etc. The external walls below the ground level of the systematized land are insulated with polystyrene, bricks, multi-layer bitumen carton or other materials.

INSULATIONS FOR PRODUCTION AREAS

Since a proper insulation of the foundations for the production areas must be made both from the outside and from the inside, when it comes to PVC membrane waterproofing, the ventilation holes of the outer insulation should also be provided during the design of the waterproofing system. Therefore, this procedure ensures that the insulation membrane can respire.

In foundation waterproofing with reinforced and impermeable concrete, the situation differs a bit as this type of waterproofing is applied by casting. However, there is a need for a drainage system for indoor waterproofing. The drainage system operates as soon as the water accumulates at the basement level, which is the main role of the complex foundation waterproofing types recommended by the Milucon specialists.

The upper part of an industrial structure is equally important, so to protect it effectively, a very good waterproofing system is required. Bituminous membranes or other options such as cast waterproofing, PVC films or even impermeable concrete, are generally used to isolate terraces. Obviously, depending on the requirement, the system that offers the best facilities is chosen.

PRICE VERSUS QUALITY

Even if for the proper waterproofing of a house the prices are relatively high, the operation should be done correctly from the start, that is right after the foundation is finished. Once the building is up, these operations can not be fully completed, therefore the costs double, as destroying the paving slabs near the pit would be required for trenching ditches to allow access to the foundation walls.

A life span of up to 50 years;

Polyurethane paint films look uniform, they are available in a wide variety of colors and they have another important advantage: high elongation and resistance to temperature differences;

They are also called reasonable floors as they do not require high operating costs, they can be applied both indoors and outdoors, and repairs can only be done on the specific areas;

TECHNICAL SOLUTIONSBentonite membrane system for underground enclosures

The advantage of this system is the speed in mounting

The bentonite membrane is a composite membrane made of geotextile and bentonite, having the advantage of expanding in contact with water, increasing its volume, bentonite being encapsulated between 2 layers of geotextile, one tissue and one nonwoven, of equal thickness and of uniform expansion

Its advantage is that it can be applied onto a variable and unprepared support (eg: semitrailers of an underground building, molded walls etc.)

No pre-training required

No primer required

The grip is done with drilled nails

Joints and seams can be made of bentonite in the form of granules
