HOW TO CHOOSE PLANTS FOR A GREEN TERRACE
The green terrace is the kind of roof on whose surface different types of vegetation are planted following the client’s preferences. Also, another criterion underlying the choice of vegetation is the amount of time that person is willing to allocate for maintaining the terrace. Given this last aspect, there are 2 types of terraces: extensive and intensive.
The extensive green terrace includes vegetation of a relatively small size which doesn’t grow much in height, being planted in a layer of soil of maximum 15 cm. Such vegetation does not require maintenance work. On the other side, the intensive green terrace is more aesthetically impressive. The thickness of the soil layer (which can reach even 50 cm) allows planting a tall vegetation of various plants, even small shrubs. This type of vegetation implies greater maintenance care than the extensive green terrace.
